Hitchcock

Brief: To design a series of posters to advertise an Alfred Hitchcock retrospective series.

I wanted to use different techniques to create the imagery for each poster, and wanted each method to convey the message of the film.
For “The Birds” I used spray paint to give the impression of numbers.
For “Rope” I used an intaglio printing to evoke a sharp, scratchy, threatening feeling.
For “Vertigo” I used light to create an uneasy, blurry feeling.
The series was also created on an extended landscape format with black bars on either side of the imagery to give the impression of a film stripe.
I felt that by using these different techniques it would catch the attention more so than plan text based posters.
